DESCRIPTION

The Samarkand shoe was developed in 2019 for leisure and travel. The Altberg senior bootmaker wanted to make a shoe for his own use which would combine some of the features of training sports shoes, whilst retaining classic styling. The result was the Samarkand which is ideal for leisure and travel, as well as everyday use.

The upper is a mixture of breathable military grade Cordura® combined with high quality 2.0mm suede, same quality of suede as we use on our military desert boots, the lining is meshtex (zero moisture retention) in the forefoot, and lightweight breathable microfibre in the heel, an optimum combination for all day comfort.

The ultra lightweight 'frasson' sole has elements of sports design, but combined with good slip resistance and torsional foot control on rougher terrain.

Width SFit Medium & Wide available – this is a specific shoe last (different to a boot last). Fitting characteristics are similar to AForme boot last, but slightly less volume to allow for a thinner sock, for summer hikes or urban use. SIZE & FITTING ADVICE

The SFit last (footshape) has similar characteristics to the Altberg AForme last, it is available in medium and wide fittings and has slightly less volume with a lower instep, in line with classic shoe last (footshape) design, and is more suitable for shoe fitting where a medium or a thinner sock may be used. The shape is asymmetrical with good toe depth and the heel is slightly more curved, a typical 'shoe heel curve', which is different to the classic 'boot heel curve'.
