what we can do to help improve fitting
Mark up
The boots are marked where the alterations are to be made.
Steam
The specific area to be reshaped is steamed to soften the leather ready for moulding.
Mould
The forefoot of the boot is remoulded using a boot shaping machine or a slightly modified last (note—if a modified last is used it must remain in the boot for 24 hours).
Re-Steam
The forefoot may also be remoulded by re-steaming and using a shaped rubbing bar. Or by inserting a slightly modified last (note—if a modified last is used it must remain in the boot for 24 hours).
Heel Spurs
For heel spurs we use a specially designed ‘spur pliors’. The position of the heel spur is marked on the outside of the boot, then the heel is steamed and remoulded around the spur area using heel spur pliers.
Instep
The instep areas of motorcycle boots can be altered using an instep moulding machine whilst steaming the boot instep. The boot remains in the machine for at least 2 hours, and we continue to steam.
